In industrial 3D metal printing, shielding gas (also called protective or inert gas) and carrier gas blowers have to meet stringent requirements. In addition to a compact design for creating small machines, the gas-tight design of the Celeroton turbo compressors also prevents the entry of oxygen and thus ensures a stable production process with high gas purity. In addition to high volume flows in compact dimensions, the gas-bearing turbo compressors also offers the advantage of higher output pressure compared to standard blowers, enabling more compact piping in the system. The dynamic speed control of the turbo compressor ensures optimal adaptation to the changing process conditions of selective laser melting (SLM) and a constant flow of gas in the building chamber during powder bed laser melting. The pressure-proof design of the compressors allows evacuation of the system under a vacuum and subsequent contamination-free filling of the system with inert gases such as argon or nitrogen.
