15 years – this is how long Celeroton AG has been around!

To celebrate this great event, we met with our families at the Juckerhof in Seegräben and spent a wonderful afternoon/evening. Many thanks to all who contributed to this great celebration!

Join us on a short time travel through the last 15 years and see a few impressions of our celebration on a wonderful summer evening at Lake Pfäffikon in the Zurich Oberland.

Over the last 15 years, Celeroton can look back on a success story of innovation and technology leadership. Founded in 2008 by Christof Zwyssig and Martin Bartholet as a spin-off of the Laboratory for Power Electronics at ETH Zurich, the company has quickly and continuously developed into a world leader in gas bearing turbo compressors. Fast, faster, Celeroton. Speeds of up to 1 million revolutions per minute (rpm). Today, Celeroton is a system supplier for compressors including converters with solutions for fuel cells, noble gas circulation and compression, gas recovery, pneumatics, cryogenics, clean and sterile air supply, and various other industrial applications.

The first employee was hired in 2009, and a year later the company launched its first own product, the CC-75-500 converter. The same year, Celeroton moved into its first own office at Technopark Zurich, a place of inspiration for players from science, technology and business. A key contact point for innovative start-up companies.

So is the team. In 2012, 10 employees are already working for Celeroton. That year also sees the launch of the first Radial Turbo Compressor CT-17-700/1000. A little later in 2013, the company’s own production starts. One year later, the number of employees doubles to 20. It now becomes too crowded in the premises in Zurich. In 2015, Celeroton moves its headquarters to nearby Volketswil. In 2016, the first turbo compressor with air bearings is launched. This product portfolio will be continuously expanded in the following years, including the corresponding electronics for speed control. The compressors are no longer used only for air, but also for the recirculation and recovery of noble gases such as argon, helium or hydrogen.

We are still in Volketswil today. Growing, developing further, becoming ISO 9001:2015 certified in 2019. And with now more than 80 employees, founded our own business unit for fuel cells in 2023.

We look back with pride and into the future with curiosity. And we look forward to our next milestones. Together with our partners and employees.
